Yeasayer. I'm really digging this recommend from Skott (textiplication.com). He told me I'd like these guys a couple months back. As I write this I'm listening to one of my favorite tracks on All Hour Cymbals, "Waves." I've only listened to Brooklyn-based Yeasayer's debut CD. There's an unrefined character to their sound that makes it feel live and genuine to me. Haven't heard their latest yet, but there's a middle eastern current running through Cymbals, along with a cool retro play with echo and reverb, simply brilliant keyboards--and I love the percussion. In "Waves" and a couple others there's a captivating rolling beat with a steady high-hat.
All Our Cymbals is in one of my writing playlists. If you're into alt, electronic, world, interesting music, it should be in yours, too. At least check them out: Yeasayer.
