I've been exploring ways to visually convey the idea that one character in a graphic novel has several voices inside her head--real people who speak to her, advise her, argue among themselves, threaten each other and my character. Last night I posted the first set with one of these characters inside another character. After trying all kinds of interesting ways to do this, I've settled on a simple thought bubble that's different from any others--unique to that individual inside character. There's only one instance of this so far, but I'd love some feedback.
Here's the link to Saltwater Witch, with the complete chapter 1 and the first six pages of chapter 2 online:

Here are a couple pages with a new voice in her head (2nd panel below), but go read from the beginning to see what's really going on. Click for the full view:

Wonderful idea and cool illustration!

interesting... it definitely helps that the character's face is not visible. Might also really accentuate it for me if the inner voice addressed the character by name the first time.
cool!

Thanks, Indigene!
Thanks, Jeff! I'm going for mysterious and even a little creepy to start--a voice out of nowhere. We're going to learn more about the character, including his name, in a little bit.
Thanks, Sara! I do too!
