...falls humanely in the drain. Okay, so me and Alice and the kids drove around southern Maine for a few hours this afternoon. Let me back up and say this all started on my birthday when Alice--kind and wonderful--gave me a zoom lens for my Nikon D40X.
We've been busy and haven't had time--until today--to run out to take a bunch of close-up shots of long range things--and the best place to go for that? That's right. We hit the road for Maine, which is like 8 miles away from us, so not really a journey, but more of a way to spend a few hours, catch an early dinner at Wild Willy's Hamburgers, one of the best hamburger places around, and cruise along the beautiful York coast, snapping photos.

Whaleback light...in the pouring rain:
Looks like a really bad dinghy, skiff and rowboat pile-up...
And here's the cause. The light's always green!
Finally, some important information for those mooring (or planning to dive from the boats) in Kittery Harbor. Click any of the pics to see them larger.
Hey Chris
it seems you have a thing with the clouds lol
nice zoom.

The clouds were crazy, but it only actually rained on us for about five minutes.
I think King lives farther up the coast, or maybe even inland a bit. I'll have to Google that. You know what's crazy. I work for a company in Massachusetts, and in the course of remodeling a few floors, they've built some new conference rooms. A naming committee was formed and decided to go with New England authors--and Stephen King is one of the options. It could be really crazy meeting in the Stephen King conference room--only slightly less scary than the Dr. Seuss room.

Now, that's a zooooooom lens. I want one, too, but I'm afraid I'd need a new camera as well, and I just got a new one last year. :)
Actually, my old analog one has a pretty large zoom, but I only use it for black and white shots these days. I need a scanner, too, so that I can post the pics I make with that one.
Anyone got the numbers of next weeks lottery? :)
