Now in COLOR! Okay, I've spent another few hours with ink, charcoal and watercolors--more like five if you count the hour in the middle rolling out dough, shredding cheese, and making pizzas (dropped some cheese and mushrooms in the oven, smoked out the kitchen and set off the smoke alarms, but that's another story). Again, sorry for the crappy phone shot of this one. I'll set up some lighting and take some better shots soon. Progress so far: idea sketch, line work in pencil on birch .

Progress shot for "3 Diamond" Finished sketching last night--did this on a scrap piece of birch. It's a little rough around the edges where the circular saw got enthusiastic, some chipping. But this piece has some nice grain, and one flaw that I'm going to blend into the work. What do you think of her panther skull armor design? In the future armor's going to be lighter, more flexible, with colors that shift with the environment and impact absorbing proximity fields--and you don't need tank-like shielding in a firefight. So the whole military design field's wide open to more imaginative patterns. .
