Yes, there will be a new Nanowhere, and it will...

...have illustrations.  Here's a peek at some of them!  Some of these are re-works of my original character sketches while writing Nanowhere. Here's a painting I'm working on called "Terraforming Takes Time" with a planetary researcher taking a reading break while the nanotech does its thing all around her.  This is a big piece, 30 inches high.

Tomorrow's Navy

Spent a few hours painting today, and this is what I did:

Here's another peek into one of the things I'm working on--another one drawn and painted on the iPad, mostly in Brushes, but also SketchBook Pro and even a little bit of Art Studio.  The story is SF, near future.  This is the opening page, and she's my POV character.

A little over a month away: Cephalopod Awareness Day!

I couldn't wait.  I spent part of today sketching and painting a couple things for October 8, Cephalopod Awareness Day. Here's one:

Nanowhere - updated!

Nanowhere...it's a love story with all the usual elements: rogue soldiers, computer hacking, tyranny, cryptography, hit-men with an affinity for rolled adhesives, rebellious skateboarders, and sentient billion-node self-organizing nanotech ghosts.

Here's a clip of Cory Doctorow's kind words on Boing Boing in May of 2006.  Hard to believe that was four years ago!

Chris Howard has released a young adult sf thriller called "Nanowhere" ... along with a bunch of supplementary materials that purports to be the lab notes and publications of one of the book's characters. I just read the first couple pages and they're interesting and well-written ...

Some new painting themes

I've been idea-sketching and painting some new work with futuristic themes and really long titles like:

"LTC Ikuyo Annet, Corps of Engineers, Offworld Ops, 384th Construction Battalion,
Overseeing launchpad overhauls on Dermestith-Ore."  Or maybe the title is RTFS--Read The F***ing Sign.

You can't come to California...

...and not spend some quality time in Monterey.  With family and a decent camera.
